Vehicles in German Town Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Confirm

Roughly fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.

Law enforcement report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.

The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.

Law enforcement then located numerous other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under regulations outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement say initial examinations show the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no indication as to its source; investigators are currently not cognizant of any harm in association with the event," they stated.

Local authorities said they were trying "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the public for tips.

A high-ranking political figure said the vandalism rendered him without words and needed to be solved quickly.

"This act hits the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a gunman targeting residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
