From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing celestial beings, demons, and malevolent powers growing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The latest chapter concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to undertake their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where diplomatic options are rare.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might appear mismatched, but the actions of episode 3 demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
To begin with, the team knows exactly where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The antagonist then cleared his debts and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each member has a specific drive to exit the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, wants revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in the region and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to kill Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the team reach places they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character pledged a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The healer turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The target is marked for death by the clan.
This means them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.
What’s Next?
According to the latest episode’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group will not appear next week, leaving the other eight cast members to round up the Questers and Strategists tables.
Viewers can expect discovering which characters will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
